\nLucy, formerly named Jovah, was a stray picked up by the SPCA in New York. Like many shelter chows, she was deemed “rescue only” \u2013 likely because of her medical needs and challenging behavior.<\/p>\n

Our first\u00a0concern was vetting for Lucy’s painful-looking eye infections and entropion\u00a0issues. We wasted no time getting her to the vet for eye meds and scheduling an appointment for eye\u00a0surgery.<\/p>\n

It was also quickly apparent\u00a0that at six months old, Lucy was an overly confident chow\u00a0in desperate need of boundaries and training.\u00a0Within her first\u00a0week at her foster mom’s, she quickly learned some important doggy manners including how to walk respectfully on a leash.<\/p>\n

Lucy’s next weeks included her entropion surgery, follow-up vet visits, and more lessons in canine etiquette. Lucy’s dedicated\u00a0foster mom had begun to see that her\u00a0basic training was getting\u00a0easier and Lucy was beginning\u00a0to flourish.<\/p>\n

Once her eyes had healed, the\u00a0sweet-but-challenging Lucy was ready for adoption. Merlin’s Hope knew that a\u00a0special family would be required\u00a0to manage her\u00a0spirit. Luckily for Lucy, the right family had already fallen\u00a0in love with her. They had completed our adoption process\u00a0while\u00a0tracking\u00a0Lucy’s\u00a0medical\u00a0and behavioural progress. \u00a0The family had been waiting\u00a0patiently for\u00a0their baby to come home!<\/p>\n
