    2020 Year End Round Up

Let’s get the obvious out of the way first…. 2020 has been a trying year for many.
It will be remembered for the pandemic and how it’s impacted our lives and the rolling effects of our future. 2020 made helping dogs across the US boarder impossible. It was also the year we had two owner surrenders we could not accept into rescue. In both cases the dogs were beyond what we are qualified or comfortable to handle. Finally and heartbreakingly, Lucy, a young chow was lost in a tragic dog attack.
So here’s the GOOD stuff we NEED to remember in 2020….
*Chow Chows & Shar Peis found their forever homes!
*Sweet Holly didn’t have to go to a shelter when her parents relocated and breed restrictions forced them to give her up.
*Rosie got relief from her eye lashes painfully scraping against her corneas!
*A lovely family and previous adopter welcomed two new additions into their lives this year…. puppy Odessa, and their new baby girl!
**Jet scored the attention and lifestyle she’s always dreamed of and Diva’s feeling and looking better with her loving family who keep her safe and well.
*That brings us to Marley who’s free from living in a garage and now enjoys the premium life-style of comfy couches, off leash parks and spa days.
*And Abby! Free from the pinch collar! Free from painful entropion and now she can even breathe easier!
*Diesel was saved from being euthanized!
*Homer found his way home despite the odds against him!
*A rescue in Kuwait saved Pilot from the streets, a very dangerous place for animals! He is here and blissfully enjoying good care and cooler temperatures.
*Best of all… Lucy’s broken-hearted Mom is definitely healing with gentle Pilot’s loving help.
To You, our Followers, we thank you for all your kind words and support. A big thank you to the volunteers who help fundraise, a crucial part rescue. Thank you adopters for giving a dog in need an amazing home!
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Safe New Year!

    Year End Round-up 2017

Another year is wrapping up and what an incredible year it has been for this little rescue! We were super busy assessing, transporting, training, posting, answering emails, phone calls, processing applications, arranging home visits, fundraising, for each and everyone of the 18 dogs we took in! That’s right! 18 dogs in 18 fantastic homes.
    We held three major fund raising events and would like to send a big gracious thank-you to;
The Ruffians who put fun in fundraiser. It was worth the drive to Ottawa. And to Cathy V., there would be no Artisan Fair without you. Every year it just gets better and better! Also to the Twelve Days of Thanksgiving fundraising Auction. This fabulous auction raises money for many different worthy causes including ours.
We hope all our followers enjoyed each dogs journey from freedom Ride to happy ending. Thank-you for following, liking, commenting and sharing.
Also a sincere thank-you to those who donated, your generosity absolutely makes a difference in a dog’s life.
To this years 17 new adoptions …(we’re just hoping and waiting on the 18th home to foster flunk…lol) A big welcome to the Merlin’s Hope Family and to everyone who’s reading this, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Paw-fect New Year!
    Dawn & Debbie

2016 ..Thank you to all our Supporters

    2016-adoptions-posting-1
    Happy Holidays to everyone

2016 proved to be a fantastic year for our little rescue. We placed a total of 9 dogs this year, 5 Shar-Peis and 4 Chow Chows! Nicholas,Samson,Lechee,Jagger,Zara,Royal,Nikko,Buddy and Tia are all doing well in their forever homes and we couldn’t be happier for them. Their Happy ending stories are listed in the “happy endings section”
If you’re reading this, then you’re one of the many people we’d like to thank. Whether you commented or clicked “like” on a photo, it’s your show of support that drives us forward.
A special thank-you to two incredible ladies. Cathy Virberg of Think artisan for all that she does with the Artisn Fair. If you haven’t attended, you’re missing an awesome event featuring amazing deals on some of the most cool gifts out there! Also a big thank-you to Vivian of Rupert Wraps. Your unwavering and generous support goes straight to vetting those wrinkle dogs and all their needs…Thank-you so much!
Big thank-you to all who sponsored a dog, donated and to those who participated in our on-line auction. Every effort counts and makes a big difference to our rescue dogs!
Of course we couldn’t do this without volunteers. So much goes on behind the scene. Phone calls, home visits, emails, transports and so much more. Time is a precious gift. Thank-you Maggie for always stepping up when we need you, and to everyone who’s played a part in helping a dog in need.
With your continued support, we look forward to sharing many more rescue stories and “happy endings” in 2017. As always, we encourage you to help out at your local animal shelter. Spread the joy by walking or playing with a shelter dog. Provide them with some attention and love. A donation of time is invaluable. If that’s not possible, a monetary gift may save a life!
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year! May there be many less in need of rescue in 2017.
    Happy holidays,

    Dawn & Debbie – Merlin’s Hope
Saving one dog will not change the world, but for that one dog the world will change fur-ever.
