Happy Endings

Wolfie

Ending the Week on a HAPPY POST!
Animal Services were called to pick up Wolfie from his residence. It’s not clear what form of abuse he endured, but he cowerd if an object was held up in front of him such as a brush or flashlight. He fiercely guarded his food and walks wild on leash. The shelter staff said, he lets you know very clearly when he is uncomfortable…and he sure does.

In rescue, he begun to understand leash manners, and not to fear the brush. He came with lots of quirks but communicated well with a heavy deep growl. After several weeks of trust building, most of that behaviour tampered down to nothing.

We also worked on his food issues but there’s a lot of history to undue, so his future family will have to be exceptionally patient and understanding! This considerably narrowed down his adoption possibilities. We saw past his scary attitude and recognized a soft boy who just wanted to be good, happy and loved. He needed a special home, and a savvy one.

A lovely couple applied who have loved many past “chowdren”, including their daughters, very nice female. When Wolfie met them, he instinctively leaned in for attention…and sealed the deal. They watched videos and saw first hand some of Wolfies food challenges which would justifiably scare anyone off…but fortunately for Wolfie, they had strategies prepared to manage whatever he threw at them. They were perfect! Kind, patient, understanding and no-nonsense! Wolfie hit the jackpot of homes! He has been currently living with his new “pawrents”, and trying his best to make friends with Scout, his new “cousin”… He did win the neighbourhood popularity contest, and a new name… Zeke. This boy has managed to slip right into their lives, hearts and home like he’s been waiting for them this whole life.

Zeke didn’t deserve his dark past, but he sure deserves the bright, fantastic future ahead. Congratulations Zeke & Family, we couldn’t be happier!
